About Honeysuckle and Heaven

In 1987, Lilian makes it her final act in life to find a new wife for her husband, Norm. She’s homed in on her once-friend Dot. Meanwhile, Norm is working on a setup of his own, repairing Lilian and Dot’s friendship. Dot hasn’t talked to them in twenty years and has developed a drinking problem. As Lilian inches closer to death, her plots become more desperate. Dot doesn’t understand why Lilian and Norm are acting so strange and wants to be left alone.

Fifty years earlier, after graduating from Smith in 1939, Lilian, a New York City socialite, will spend one last summer at her family’s cottage in the Berkshires with her best friend Dot. In the fall, Lilian will start her job as a secretary on Wall Street and has dreams of becoming the first woman trader. But when Lilian meets Norm, a poor farmer’s son, Lilian questions her dreams. Meanwhile, Dot is being pursued by William, the son of the richest man in town.

HONEYSUCKLE AND HEAVEN explores the intricate relationships of three characters, from each of their points of view, in two timelines.
