About Rebecca Blessing (formally Harris)

Writing has always been my favorite part of every job I’ve ever held - and I’ve had a range of careers. Child welfare expert, yoga instructor, professor…Just to name a few.

Even something as simple as writing an email can be a sources of inspiration for me. I’m pleased to be offering communications and marketing editorial services, grant writing and other free-lance services to those in need of creative, purposeful prose.

I currently have two main source of purposeful prose:

  • Marketing and communications for nonprofits and child welfare organizations.

  • Grant writing for nonprofits and child welfare organizations.

I’ve written for Adoption Today, Elephant Journal and was lead-author of the chapter entitled “Systems that Protect Children: Elements of Success” in the book, The Intercountry Adoption Debate: Dialogues Across Disciplines.

From 2014 to 2021 I ran a small nonprofit consulting management firm, Noble & Harris Consulting. While nearly all my clients utilized my writing skills in some capacity, it was not main focus of our relationships. Since 2019, the majority of my clients have transition to marketing and communications and grant writing. Noble & Harris Consulting clients included The Road to Hope, Lifesong for Orphans, Lutheran Family Services of the Rocky Mountains, Global Fingerprint and The Family Network.

I was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Joint Council on International Children’s Services from 2012 to 2014. Prior to serving as COO I served as Director of Programs and Services (2009 – 2012) and Government Relations and Communications Officer (2008) at Joint Council. In 2010 I was honored with the Board of Directors Outstanding Service to Children award for my work for children and families in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake. Previous to my work at Joint Council, I served as an International Program Coordinator for Adoption Alliance in Denver, CO.

I have a Masters of Non-Profit Management from Regis University. A graduate of Long Island University Global College, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, Peace & Conflict. I studied in Australia, England, and South Africa. While in South Africa, I provided direct care for HIV positive orphans and was also a member of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Ex-Combatant Re-Skilling Project which transitioned South African soldiers into society.

When I’m not writing and working with clients you can find me cooking up a storm with my husband, Connor; playing with our two goofy pups, Jackson and Trout; taking beginner piano lessons with my niece; working on my first novel based on my grand parent’s lives; or exploring any number of other activities I’ve decided are interesting to me that day/week/month/year.
